The National Indigenous Congress and the Indigenous Government Council repudiate the coward violent attacks that were carried out against our male and female comrades of the Otomí community living in Mexico City
To the Mexican People of All Races,
To all the Indigenous Governing Council (CIG) Supporting Networks Here and Abroad,
To the National and International Sexta
To all the National and International Media,
In the face of the attack which was perpetrated by the bad government against our male and female comrades of the Otomí community living in Mexico City, the National Indigenous Congress and the Indigenous Government Council repudiate the coward violent attacks that were carried out today. September 19th, precisely one year after the earthquakes that shook several parts of the country. Around 9:30 am, hundreds of military police forces and a group of hitmen-for-hire attacked Indigenous children, women and elderly alike, wounding 15 of our comrades, to evict 70 families from the Indigenous Otomí community. They were homeless victims of the earthquake one year ago who were living in the camp that was built for the victims in the face of the damage suffered by the building located on the corner of Milan and Rome streets of Colonia Juárez in the Cuauhtémoc Borough. They were beaten, and their belongings burned with Molotov bombs.
During these violent attacks, our comrade Diego García Bautista was hit, and the attackers stole his two cell phones to prevent him from keep videotaping the violent eviction that was taking place to displace and destroy our comrades’ belongings.
We demand the end of contempt, dispossession and repression against the Otomi community based in Mexico City, and for the damages caused to be repaired. Again, these damaging actions are targeted to silence their just demands, in order to benefit the owners of the money.
